I love the Great British Bake Off, the competitive aspect of it as well as the science behind the baking.  I have always loved baking but didn’t realize until I watched this how much it was for me  “my happy place.”  I was always baking, cakes for the family, special tarts for special occasions, quiches, pies, but have never done anything more technical than a lemon tart, pavlova and profiteroles!! I came to the realization that a fabulous way to have fun this year would be to do a “Julie and Julia” but not with French cooking; by working my way through “The Great British Bake Off Big Book of Baking”

It is a book of classics including Biscuits, Breads, Cakes, Sweet Pastries, Savoury Bakes and Puddings, with recipes from both Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
In order to get through 120 recipes, I originally planned to bake a baker’s dozen a month, so as to complete this task by the end of the year.

However, after two months of solid baking and blogging and not much else, I am now going to make all 120 recipes in a “baker’s dozen” i.e. 13 months, so hope to complete all the bakes which I started in March 2018, by the end of March 2019.  So let’s do it, let’s BAKE!!
