I haven’t as yet tackled savoury bakes, basically because they don’t interest me enough!!! I love it sweet!  So yesterday, I bit the bullet and had a crack.  What did make the experience very interesting was the fact I had to make my own Puff Pastry.  So I set to with my soft butter, which of course had to be put into the freezer for a while to harden.  The amount of butter to flour ratio was astounding but the result was exceptional.  Soft delicious Tapenade Twists to die for.  Before I made the pastry, I bought the tapenade down at the local food market which sells all sorts of delicacies like this.  It was capsicum and olive tapenade and that mixed with brandy was delicious in the pastry. While I was there I bought a soy latte, and decided to walk the dog.  Getting out of the car on the roadside, I picked up the dog (she is very small and didn’t want her getting squashed with oncoming traffic).  As I dropped her onto the grass verge, my coffee, fresh, hot delicious, with one sip taken out of it!!! dropped on the grass next to her and spilled the lot.  Damn it.  I was really looking forward to that coffee while I had a walk.

I shoved the empty cup back into the car, covered in grass and coffee, had my walk and on my way home thought, blow it, I’ll buy another one.  That walk cost me $5 for nothing, so what the heck.  I walked back into my general collective store ( the one that sells all the yum delicacies like jamon serrano and butterfly lamb, guava jelly and aged cheddar cheese!!! salivating!).  I gave me my empty, cup, told them my sad story and said I wanted another Soy latte, of course I would pay.  They said, no that’s fine and gave me another one for free. How nice and unexpected!

So I made my pastry, with my frozen butter which had to be grated into the flour and set it to chill.

That afternoon, I made the tapenade twists

and they were almost all polished off before dinner they were so nice, that pastry was something else – delicious.
