Yuuuum

Well sadly for me I had already written this post, but crazy, crazy, I obviously forgot to save the draft.  So here we go again.  It was easter Tuesday, and with all the chocolate around, I thought it would be a good idea to use some of it to make these doughnuts.  I have never made doughnuts before, the idea frightens me because they seem like they would be hard to make.  I had the ingredients though, so set to with my new cake mixer.

The dough was luscious and soft, and had to be kept in the fridge afterwards for at least seven hours or overnight.  What surprised me was that it rose in the fridge.  Clever little yeast.  So I rolled the dough into individual sized pieces that afternoon and filled them with chocolate or blueberries (didn’t have any raspberries) and them set to frying them.  Not having a deep fryer I used a pot.  I’m not familiar with deep-frying and I had the temperature too hot, so some of them came out a bit dark.  Didn’t matter.

They were yum, light and fluffy and I managed to wolf the first slightly undercooked tester down in about 3 seconds!  I wouldn’t be making these again in a hurry they are too good!  But a fun way to spend the afternoon and never too old to enjoy a good sugar doughnut that’s for sure.

I was at church on Easter Sunday and I noticed a young woman of about 25 dressed in a mini skirt, shoe string top and denim jacket.  She reminded me of myself at that age.  The funny thing is I still feel that age and want to dress that way.  As the years go by, we do different things, work, travel, have babies, raise teenagers, but we are still that 25-year-old on the inside who wants to dress in a mini skirt with a high pony tail, despite the fact the façade has changed and the mirror is saying something different.  Inside we stay the same, we just gather experience, and maybe some knowledge and wisdom if we’re lucky.
