I’ve just realized I keep baking biscuits…ahhhhhhh.  I need to move on, get to the harder bakes, spice it up a bit.  This is the last one for a while, I promise.

I have been sewing the elastic onto the ends of gloves this afternoon.  It’s stressful as my machine is screwing it up big time, so frustrating.  The zigzag is more like a congealed knot. I’ll have to do them all again.  Meanwhile, I want to bake and am going out tonight to Portuguese.

So come 5pm, I start my bake and leave my sewing until tomorrow.

And then…typical, no eggs.  Can’t make brownies without eggs.  I head down to the local supermarket, and do a quick shop, spending $146.80 which isn’t too bad for a weeks worth of groceries!!  Packing everything into the car, the checkout assistant comes running up to me.  “Um, you just bought these didn’t you?” It was the eggs!!!  Phew.  Imagine if I had got home without them.  Thank heaven for angels like her.

So I got home and cracked on with the bake.  I had already melted the butter and had bought Thai fish cakes with coleslaw for dinner so that was that sorted.  I’d have to say, this baking is making for simpler meals, not a bad thing.  I took a breather, all this stress deserves a rose with cheese and crackers.  I took out the cumin gouda and wafer crackers with fig and fennel paste I had just bought from the supermarket.  The sight of that cumin gouda took me back to Kaiwaka where I would always stop at the Cheese Shop to buy creamy blue cheese and cumin gouda on my way to visit my Dad when he was sick with cancer.  He loved that creamy blue and I loved treating him.  So I sipped my wine, and saluted Dad as I took a moment to remember him.

I made the brownies which had loads of sugar

and cocoa and nuts and yummy things.  They came out perfect.
