It’s ball season again and I tried to make these Pizzettes for the pre-ball on Saturday.  I failed miserably because despite having all the ingredients laid out on the bench, I spent the whole day running, as you do from hair to makeup appointments for my daughter.  So a plate of cheese and crackers it was.  But I did make these the next day for lunch and then we had them for dinner as well.  So yum, with caramelized onions and blue cheese.  I made the dough, byadding the flour, herbs, yeast, salt and water.  This I let rise for one hour.  Then I finely chopped the onions and sauteed them lightly with rosemary and olive oil, then covered them with a lid and steamed them for half an hour.  They came out sweet and caramelized, with no added sugar, just a splash of wine did the trick.  I divided the dough into 25 portions then spread these out onto baking paper.  The caramelized onions went on top, with crumbled Gorgonzola.  They baked in the oven for 12 minutes.  I also made some with feta and basil just for variety.  The pizza dough was soft and delicious and the toppings were divine. Great snack or for lunch or dinner!  We are still eating them!!

My daughter had a fantastic make up session with a lovely makeup artist, Leah, who bakes btw with her daughters sitting up on the bench licking the spoon as you do.  It reminded me that makeup is an art too, watching the professionalism of the artist knowing how and where to apply the colour to get the desired or requested effect.  Very clever. http://www.leahhaeatamakeup.com

The other place that impressed me was Killer Hair on St Benedicts Street in Newton, Auckland, which takes a sustainable approach and tries to have a zero impact on the environment, as well as lovely tea and hot chocolates.  http://killerhair.co.nz/ Go them.
